Life on the Water
The town of Magnolia Springs is the Postal Service’s only river route mail delivery in the continental U.S. I have pictures to prove it!
Mobile, AL is the only place in the world where jubilee happens. It is a naturally occurring phenomenon. Sea life, such as flounder, crabs and shrimp get caught in low-oxygenated water. Then they swim toward the shoreline. It has been documented on a regular basis.
Making the Call
Haleyville, Alabama had the first 911 call in the United States in 1968. The minute I read this, I got this mental picture of Green Acres‘ Oliver Douglas climbing the telephone pole to make a call.
Alabama was the first state in the country to declare Christmas a legal holiday, in 1836.
The most important consideration of this list is: Should we say Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas? Tradition has always been one of the things that make us truly southern. Since Christmas is about the birth of Christ, let’s don’t take Christ out of Christmas. Let’s make that call.
