I-65 Pitstops in Alabama
I-65 Pitstops, South of Birmingham, AL…
“On my way to and from Birmingham from our little oasis in Fairhope, I usually have to make a few pitstops to walk my shih-tzu, (Latte) or to get lunch on the go. Priester’s Pecans (just off I-65 at 208 Old Fort Road East, in Fort Deposit, AL 36032 is my first stop when I’m headed south. Priester’s has a delightful gift shop in addition to pecan pralines, roasted pecans and delicious Blue Bell Ice Cream. The restrooms are always clean, ladies! And…There’s a large area for pet walking with an old fashioned pump for water to quench their thirst.
If I’m hungry, I’ll also hop off Exit 128 and turn in to 2391 Pineapple Hwy, in Greenville, AL 36037 for a barbeque meal that will surprise you. This is a Shell Station with a BBQ joint attached to the convenience store. The sides are delicious and the barbeque… well, just let me say that it is well worth the stop!
For a quick restroom break and a little snack, there is the nicest little truck stop that a girl ever met at exit 69 in Brewton, AL. The name alone drew me in like a duck to water. The YellowHammer has a pretty exterior, clean restrooms and a great selection of snacks. (Shhh… their name is really the YellowHammer Travel Center, but don’t tell the truck drivers.)
Other Pitstops in Alabama and Beyond
Now, if you’re traveling most anywhere else in the South, you’ll need to check out the Editor’s Pick from Garden & Gun. They have the rest of the area covered except for the short trek from Birmingham to Atlanta. If you are an I-20 traveler, please share your favorite stops in the comments and I will gladly add them to the post!
Be safe out there, travelers!
