Add a last minute item to the Fourth of July Menu: Tomato Bread
Begin with slices of Italian Bread
Gather butter, a ripe tomato, black pepper and garlic salt.
Butter the bread. If you have a fresh garlic clove, you can cut it and rub it on the bread in this step.
Peel and slice the tomato. Place on the bread.
Delicious summer tomatoes.
Sprinkle generously with garlic salt and pepper. Broil under high heat until edges of bread are brown and crisp.
We’ll have sliced watermelon for dessert, play croquet on the lawn and then head out to watch “Thunder on the Mountain,” the best firework display in the south!
