My son and future daughter-in-love are headed to Birmingham over the Fourth of July. I am fired up!

Add a last minute item to the Fourth of July Menu: Tomato Bread

Italian BBQ Bread

Begin with slices of Italian Bread

Tomato Bread Ingredients

Gather butter, a ripe tomato, black pepper and garlic salt.

Buttered Bread

Butter the bread. If you have a fresh garlic clove, you can cut it and rub it on the bread in this step.

Peel and slice the tomato. Place on the bread.

Delicious summer tomatoes.

add garlic salt & pepper

Sprinkle generously with garlic salt and pepper. Broil under high heat until edges of bread are brown and crisp.

We’ll have sliced watermelon for dessert, play croquet on the lawn and then head out to watch “Thunder on the Mountain,” the best firework display in the south!

    Kim I’ve never seen tomato bread before. I actually make a variation on it, using toast bread, but with lots of olive oil drizzled on. Those ribs look pretty incredible. And your playlist is perfect! I hope you had a wonderful Fourth of July. It is always so much fun to go and watch the fireworks. Thank you for joining us at Sweet Inspiration this week.     I would love the 4th at your house, especially the tomato sandwich. My Grandmother made those for me when I was a young girl, what fond memories.
