Here’s a Fun Way to Organize Vacation Photos
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked 007 the following question:
“Hey hon, do you remember what year it was that we vacationed on Topsail Island with your brother? Or when did we go to Charleston the first time? What was the name of that theme park we visited in Charlotte?”
A Fun Way to Organize Vacation Photos
Well, quite by accident, I discovered a fun way to organize our vacation photos. When I want to use something in a post (like today) or someone asked me if I know of a fun activity for kids in Charlotte, NC, I can quickly get to the folder and find the name and/or photo.
We were vacationing with family in 2012 during the Kentucky Derby. Each family decided to put $5 in the pot and each bet on a horse just for fun. I think the pot had $20 in it. My brother-in-law chose a horse that would have been a longshot to win, but jokingly picked him because of his name. We watched the race and to all of our surprise, his longshot won. It was a horse by the name of I’ll Have Another.
That became the theme of the trip. So, when we decided to have our photo made on the beach that year, it was suggested that we do something to celebrate our “winnings.”
Princess Van Gogh came up with the idea to write the saying on something to hold in the picture. A surfboard was the perfect answer to float this into our photos.
From that point on the May 2012 trip to Topsail Island became the “I’ll Have Another” vacation. It started a whole new way to organize my photos and help me to remember years, places, etc. I have a horrible memory and this has been a tremendous help.
Another trip with my side of the family became the vacation of “I’ll Chick the Picken!” During a family board game I twisted my words up when I was supposed to say, “I’ll pick the chicken.” We were all laughing and to this day when my nephew sees me, he’ll ask if I’ve chicked any pickens lately. It’s the little, silly things that turn weeks of vacation into special moments you won’t forget. Naming your digital photo folders accordingly will help you keep it all organized and it’s lots of fun to look through, too.
If you have no way to float the saying into your vacation photos, then write it onto a picture in photo editing and make that the album cover.
Happy photo organizing!
